Harder Than I Thought
Let me be the first one to say that I seriously struggle!
I truly enjoy living IN the moment, which means flying by the seat of my pants whenever I can. I struggle with meal planning and I HATE preping for a week in advance. It just doesn't seem practical for me.
My biggest struggle right now is my workout options. I face two difficulties with my running.
1. A safe place to run long distances that is close to home.
This is a particular problem because I currently live in an area where it is mostly backroads with no shoulder or busy main roads that (while they have a shoulder) make me nervous to run them at certain times of day.
2. A good time of day to run.
I would get up early to run but it's too dark to be running on these unlit back roads. I would run after work but as a mom, there are a million other things to do. I have laundry, dinner, dishes, cleaning, and by the time I just get through making dinner it's now starting to get dark and i'm in the same predicament as I am if I get up early to run. It is getting very frustrating!!
I don't want to feel as though I have to "start over" every day, but a lot of times, that is exactly what I end up doing. So today, I have decided that I am going to take this week to try and figure out a safe and healthy running plan and in the meantime, I will work on my nutrition.
In order to jump start myself I have decided (since I still have some) to do the 3 day Shakeology cleanse. I will have Shake-o as my meal for each of the three meals on these three days and only suppliment when I need to with healthy options, like fruits and veggies. I have also decided to give up breads entirely. This means no pasta, or sammies.... which means having to say no to the office invitation to Chick-Fil-A... my biggest struggle! But even though I don't want to "start over" I do know that every day is a new opportunity to make better choices.
If anyone has any suggestions to getting myself a healthy and safe running alternative (and please don't say a gym or a treadmill) I would love to hear them!
Today is starting off great though! I had Vanilla Shake-o for breakfast and I brought the Strawberry with me for lunch. Maybe I'll make a Peanut Butter one for dinner!
