Slow and Steady!

So today I want to talk about something that I have always struggled with.... not letting yesterday affect today... and not letting faltering today stop me from succeeding tomorrow.

To explain where i'm coming from I want to recap my first week of training. Started on good when I did my Tuesday 30 minute run. I am WAY out of shape so i was definitely satisfied when I called it quits at 23 minutes.

Wednesday was a rest day.... totally nailed that one!! however it was a stressful day and I up working my biceps while i enjoyed a few glasses of red wine. And i ended up having a couple more than I should have which made getting up at 5:15 damn near impossible.

Thursday was supposed to be my 45 minute run but as I said, i did not get up in time to do it in the morning. I had planned on doing it that evening, however I realized that I was going to be staying home on Friday so instead i swapped out my Friday rest for my Wednesday run.
When Brian got home from work he grabbed Ciara and went out to practice some baseball and i grabbed my dog, Maybelle, and headed to the park.

It was a ton of fun and turned into more of a running adventure than anything else. We were doing some regular trail running when we decided to head down a path or two less traveled. Yes, i ended up stuck in a pricker bush, no my dog did not come like a faithful Lassie to save me. She sat an stared at me while i untangled myself from the teeth of the foliage. That didn't stop me though! We kept on until we reached the end of the trail and were forced to turn around. We slowed to a walk only a couple times when the path became just too difficult to run through and we stopped for a very brief 30 second swim (the dog... not me) only two or three times. It may not have been a balls to the wall serious road run, non-stop for 45 minutes, but it was a good workout (jumping logs and dodging low branches can really give you a good workout) and a ton of fun!

My point after all of this is that even though i didn't follow the script and went a little rogue on this, I still got a great workout, I feel great, and I'm still successful. I didn't quit because of one bad day.
